Universal Institute of Technology

UIT provides an environment where each individual is respected and supported to achieve their goals. Each English language course is held on our well-equipped CBD campus in the centre of Melbourne. Melbourne is Victoria’s capital city and the business, administrative, cultural and recreational hub of the state and has once again been voted the most liveable city in the world!

It is home to one of the world’s most harmonious and culturally diverse communities; so you can study here and still feel totally comfortable, with plenty of local communities, shops and restaurants representing cultures from all around the world. Residents from more than 140 nations live side by side, brought here by four main waves of migration. In recent years, large numbers of international students have contributed to the multicultural fabric of this vibrant city.

Why study English in Melbourne?

It’s simple: the city is beautiful, and the lifestyle is great!

When you learn English in Melbourne, you’ll have plenty of opportunity to practice your written and conversation skills at exciting sites and attractions around the CBD and surrounding suburbs.

The City of Melbourne municipality covers 37.6 sq km and has a residential population of around 100,611 (as of 2011). On an average day, around 805,000 people use the CBD, and it hosts over one million international visitors each year so you can study general English with many others who are in the same situation.

All of these residents, workers, shoppers and travellers can take a break in one of the around 145,000 cafe or restaurant seats, or walk through some of its 471 hectares of parkland. They can visit the city’s tallest building, the 300m high Eureka Tower, or its oldest building, the Mitre Tavern, built in 1837.

The entire metropolitan area covers 7694 sq km and has a population of around 4.1 million.

Like all other main settlements in Australia, Melbourne directly borders the ocean. So what makes it so special? It’s the combination of natural assets, the cultural diversity and laid-back friendliness of its inhabitants as well as the never ending amount of things to do when you’re not at your English classes in Melbourne at UIT.

There are a number of beautiful beaches close to the centre and the further down you drive along each side of Port Phillip Bay the better the beaches get. Melbourne is also highly marketed as Australia’s event and sports capital. There is always an event going on that draws attention to the city – many are free!
